Salary: £26,300 to £32,900 per annum (pro rata)

Contract Type: Part-time, Permanent.

Ideal working hours: Monday and Wednesday 930-1730; Tuesday PM 1330-1730.

The Role

You will lead and inspire the next generation of gaming and media talent through your planning and delivery of our creative curriculum. You will mark and assess learner projects, setting high expectations and motivating them to be the best that they can be. You will be a role model, providing our learners with innovative, practical and employment-led training. You will collaborate with others to share best practices and ensure that our learners get the highest quality experience. You will work with experienced, passionate tutors as well as within a support service provided by our Central Team. Working at Access Creative College means working with learners who are engaged, enthusiastic and passionate about the education they are gaining. The role is based at our South West campus in Plymouth. This campus has been established for over 20 years as part of dBs Institute, specialising in music production, and over the past few years has expanded its curriculum to become a creative hub for games art & development, and music performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching sessions in Games Art, including 2D and 3D art, character design, environment creation, and animation.
  • Develop and update course materials to reflect current industry standards, software, and techniques.
  • Support and mentor students, providing constructive feedback and guidance on their work and progression.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and exams, ensuring fair and consistent grading.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and contribute to course development initiatives.
  • Engage with industry professionals and facilitate opportunities for student work placements, live projects, or guest lectures.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and student progress in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Participate in team meetings, staff development, and quality improvement activities within the department.

Qualifications & Experience

You will have up-to-date knowledge and an understanding of 3D modelling software (Maya/Blender/ZBrush) and 3D animation processes. Desirable skills would include an understanding of 2D digital artwork, Graphic Design principles and the pipeline surrounding the creation of game assets. You will have theoretical knowledge across the broad spectrum of games, for example, job roles and skills, world‑building, and story progression. Additionally, you may have experience in digital audio/video, cinematography, photography and video editing and you'll be familiar with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar applications. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills which will help you to effectively manage the creation of stellar Schemes of Work and session plans leading to the delivery of high-quality lessons to our learners. These skills will also help you to organise internal and external examination/assessment-related administration including the moderation and verification of coursework and internal course assessments. Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related subject area and maths and English qualifications at level 2 or above. A teaching qualification is desirable but if you don’t have one, we will pay for you to get one and provide you with time to study!
