We are looking to appoint a Medical Receptionist who possesses the skills to support the smooth day‑to‑day running of the Practice in North Park Health Centre. This role is part of a quality improvement programme and offers the opportunity for growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer telephone calls in a courteous and helpful manner, ensuring calls are dealt with quickly and carefully, documented and redirected as needed, and handled with sensitivity when patients are anxious or distressed.
- Maintain the appointment system by booking, amending, and cancelling appointments and searching for suitable slots.
- Greet patients and visitors to the practice.
- Respond to queries from patients and staff, including GPs, nurses, and medical secretaries, or refer them to the appropriate person.
- Provide non‑clinical information to patients and families, including cancellation of appointments.
- Process all types of patient referrals and liaise with General Practitioners, patient services staff, and medical staff from other areas.
- Ensure requirements for repeat prescriptions are actioned in accordance with Practice policy and procedures.
- Carry out general office administration tasks, including scanning, making outbound calls to patients, electronic filing, and faxing.
- Communicate professionally with each team member and provide relevant information.
- Maintain a clear code of conduct and high standards of customer service in terms of dignity, respect and excellent service to all internal and external customers.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have previous experience working with the general public, excellent communication skills, and be smart, polite and confident. They will also possess a strong team ethos, be friendly, convey a positive image of the practice to patients and Partners, and be ready to work with our existing reception team. The role is challenging and rewarding, providing the opportunity for advancement and development. Full training will be given, and informal visits to the Practice are welcome.
