Your work in our Private Client Tax team will go beyond the numbers – it’s about building meaningful client relationships, understanding client’s wider affairs, navigating risks, and delivering insights that drive real results.

As a Personal Tax Assistant Manager in our Peterborough team, you will deal with high-net-worth individuals and their families and trusts. You will manage a Personal Tax portfolio, be responsible for the Trusts and Estates work, IHT reporting (and IHT 100 and IHT 400 forms), and will also gain exposure to a variety of projects, including working on international and cross-border tax issues, leveraging the fact that MHA is the UK independent member firm of Baker Tilly International. The role will involve elements of compliance, dispute resolution and advisory. There will be a degree of flexibility to tailor the role to the individual, with opportunities to get involved with succession planning, OMB projects, trusts and structures, and inheritance tax planning.

Most importantly, we are looking for ambitious and forward-thinking individuals who are keen to develop their skills, build great relationships with existing and future clients, and leverage the experience on offer in this role to develop their technical and soft skills to progress in their career.

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Dealing with the preparation, submission, and review of annual tax returns of all delegated clients.
  • Advising clients on various private client / personal tax issues.
  • Responsible for and supporting on a diverse portfolio which will include but is not limited to high-net-worth individuals, wealthy families, trusts, estates and offshore structures.
  • Ensuring all tax returns are compliant with tax regulations and liaising with HMRC and clients on all personal tax issues.
  • Management of HMRC interventions, including s9A enquiries, other investigations, and voluntary disclosures.
  • IHT reporting, including IHT 100 and IHT 400 forms.
  • Regularly updating your tax technical knowledge.
