We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team. You’ll be joining Soben at an exciting time, playing a key role in helping us achieve our ambitious growth targets. Supporting one of our key Construction clients in the region, you will be responsible for developing and implementing key procurement and commercial strategies across a range of projects in our business.

In this role you will:

  • Provide the necessary pre and post contract quantity surveying / commercial support on a range of one-off projects and programmes of work.
  • Be responsible for detailed financial management and reporting.
  • Work alongside Compensatory Planting Project Manager to negotiate and manage terms of compensatory planting and biodiversity net gain contracts.
  • Manage procurement events/ITTs including initial enquiry, contract negotiation/agreement, post contract management and agreement of final account.
  • Work alongside Compensatory Planting Project Manager to assist negotiation and management of financial terms of land agreements.
  • Liaise with all capital projects contracts managers to ensure all compensatory planting and biodiversity net gain contracts are delivered within project budgeting and cost recovery via Ofgem allowances in so far as possible.
  • Support the Project Manager and Procurement & Commercial Manager/Senior Contract Manager to deliver strategies and contracts, providing robust post contract commercial management which will support the project goals and objectives.
  • Support the delivery of departmental KPIs and objectives such as savings in total cost of ownership, value engineering and safety performance.
  • Possess the ability to work to tight deadlines, under pressure whilst still delivering quality output and prioritise requirements where necessary.

You will need to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and hold the ability to influence and negotiate with users outside your own sphere of responsibility. We are looking for candidates who have working knowledge of the relevant conditions of contract (primarily NEC3 suite) along with experience in estimating, cost and budget management, contract administration and payment and expenditure management.

To be considered for this role, the individual should have:

  • Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of managing contracts on projects or programmes of work of £5-£100M
  • Professional qualifications – MRICS desirable
