The Functional Consultant is a strong independent contributor with deep process and technology expertise within their domain. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality functional outputs, managing defined scope independently, and supporting solution design and build activities. The functional consultant demonstrates quick problem-solving capability, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage client expectations within their assigned area. They contribute proactively to team objectives, continually upskill, and actively articulate their career development trajectory.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Functional Delivery & Documentation: Prepare and maintain high-quality functional documentation including Business Process Solution Documents, Configuration rationale documentation, RICEFW specifications – Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows. Translate business requirements into structured functional designs. Ensure completeness, traceability, and accuracy of deliverables within assigned scope. Support configuration validation and testing activities.
- Process & Technology Expertise: Demonstrate strong process knowledge within assigned functional area. Apply sound technology understanding to align solutions with system capabilities. Support solution design discussions with structured input. Contribute to resolving design and build-related challenges using analytical reasoning.
- Client Interaction & Expectation Management: Manage defined client interactions independently within scope. Communicate clearly and professionally in workshops and status discussions. Manage client expectations by setting realistic timelines and solution boundaries.
- Problem Solving & Proactiveness: Anticipate potential risks within assigned scope and propose mitigation actions. Take proactive ownership of tasks and follow through to completion. Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Demonstrate a strong teamwork mindset. Maintain positive and professional stakeholder relationships.
- Professional Development & Growth Orientation: Demonstrate aspiration and motivation to grow within the role. Proactively pursue upskilling in both process and technology areas. Clearly articulate career direction and development objectives.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong problem-solving capability with ability to respond quickly to challenges.
- Good communication skills.
- Exposure to AI-enabled tools and ability to apply them to improve efficiency in documentation, analysis, and functional solution validation.
- Deep process knowledge and relevant technology experience within assigned domain.
- Proven experience in preparing Business Process Solution Documents, configuration rationale, and RICEFW documentation.
- Experience managing defined client interactions independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to project lifecycle implementations.
- Experience working in structured delivery environments.
- Demonstrated initiative in continuous learning and professional development.
- Key SAP Financial Accounting modules such as the General Ledger; Accounts Receivables; Accounts Payables; and Asset Accounting.
- Key SAP Controlling modules such as Cost Centre Accounting; Profit Centre Accounting; CO-PA; Allocations; Product Costing.
- Experience in Project Systems, Group Reporting, and Central Finance may be considered.
