Public Sector Consultant – Accenture
Lead complex transformation and investment projects for public sector clients such as central government departments, NHS, and other health and care organisations. Serve as the primary client-facing professional, providing strategic advice, coaching, and problem-solving across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver services to a diverse range of public sector clients, acting as the client’s face for all engagements.
- Develop a detailed understanding of client business, lead issue-based discussions, and drive value-centric, data-driven outcomes.
- Build, manage and validate complex business cases in line with HM Treasury Green Book principles.
- Create and review financial, economic and analytical models to support senior decision-makers.
- Translate analysis into clear recommendations and decision points for senior stakeholders.
- Design and implement operating models, supply chain transformation and technology-led service delivery.
- Lead Agile teams, applying best-practice frameworks (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, Agile) across proposal, delivery and governance stages.
- Maintain strong client relationships, influence senior stakeholders and manage risk throughout project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years residency in the UK (no continuous absence of more than 30 days) and willingness to undergo a Security Clearance process.
- Experience in creating and managing complex business cases and financial or economic models.
- Proven track-record working with public sector clients (government departments or health & care organisations).
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; expert use of Excel for complex data sets.
- Excellent client communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Ability to structure problems, develop clear strategic narratives and deliver to senior stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Experience with data science, data architecture or data-visualisation tools such as PowerBI or Qlik.
- Design-thinking or Agile practitioner certification and experience leading Agile teams.
- Knowledge of current technologies (e.g., Cloud, Generative AI) and their application to public services.
- Experience overseeing project, programme and portfolio governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to drive new business, build relationships and identify growth opportunities.
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of client work, the role requires a UK Security Clearance. Applicants must have lived in the UK for at least 5 years and not have left the country for more than thirty consecutive days.
