Overview
In this role you help redesign Record-to-Report and controllership services to improve close performance, accounting quality, controls and service delivery within a governed operating model. You work across group and local finance, GBS/GCC, and external providers to translate decisions into detailed process and technology requirements. You will shape end-to-end R2R design, governance, and transition plans, enabling automation and AI while preserving fiduciary accountability. This is a chance to influence how finance services are organized in a global professional services leader.
Responsibilities
- Assess current R2R operating model and identify root causes of pain across scope, capacity, and controls
- Develop target R2R service model and activity-placement options across groups and providers
- Create detailed operating-model deliverables covering scope, roles, governance, controls, and interfaces
- Define automation and AI implications for future R2R processes and determine what remains human-driven
- Translate design decisions into business, data, and control requirements for ERP, workflow, and analytics tools
- Support governance and service-management design, including SLAs, OLAs, and continuous improvement
- Build case for change, benefits, and implementation roadmap; support transition planning and training
- Deliver client-ready outputs and lead workshops with finance, controllership, GBS and technology stakeholders
- Manage outputs, risks, and dependencies; collaborate across multidisciplinary teams; contribute to proposals and reusable assets
Key requirements
- 4+ years in R2R, controllership, finance transformation, GBS/GCC, or ERP-enabled change
- Hands-on ownership of analysis or design deliverables
- Exposure to at least one R2R improvement or transformation through design to implementation or transition
- Deep knowledge of period-end close, journals, reconciliations, intercompany, fixed assets, consolidation, and group/statutory reporting
- Experience with retained vs GBS scope decisions, governance structures, and service delivery models
- Understanding of how enterprise platforms, data, and AI shape R2R operating models
- Ability to assess automation/AI potential and maintain appropriate human accountability
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills
- Analytical mindset with process-mapping and documentation proficiency
