About the Role

As a Senior Managing Engineer – Forward Deployed / Data Engineering Senior Manager, you will operate with high individual, team and client ownership. You will be accountable for the strategy across your deployed client engagement. Leading a team of engineers, you will design solutions that unify complex data landscapes, build workflows that drive smarter decisions, and partner with organizations to deliver sustainable transformation. You and your team will have creative freedom to architect solutions, working iteratively to build fast, demonstrate your work to clients and refine it based on real‑time feedback.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Delivery: Take full ownership of client problem set discovery and business analysis. Accountable for strategic advisory, programme design, horizon mapping and change management. Significant ownership of enduring and successful relationships with clients.
  • End-to-End Delivery: Lead your deployment team to drive significant overarching ownership of client problems, handling everything from deep data engineering (which may require low/no code Palantir Foundry tooling, or Python and PySpark code repos) to building user‑facing front‑end applications and widgets in TypeScript or REACT.
  • Lead Client Advisory: Sit directly alongside clients, goals and requirements and translate complex technical language into stakeholder‑appropriate communication.
  • AI Integration: Actively embed AI workflows into existing applications using cutting‑edge tools like AIP Logic Functions, AIP Analysts, and AIFDE.
  • APBG/Decho Labs Innovation: Contribute to APBG/Decho Labs to build tangible internal products. Feed deployment learnings back into the company so teams learn from your success and create compounding assets of value for internal and client use.
  • Innate Collaboration: Manage project team, driving self‑assignment of taskings, actively participate in our "show and tell" culture through teachbacks and tech reviews and uplift your peers and wider APBG/Decho community through highly active internal support channels.

Qualifications

  • Strategic mindset: Demonstrate an exceptional level of client relationship management aligned to high‑level decision‑makers, alongside technical understanding and natural leadership.
  • Problem Solvers: Ability to navigate nuanced client environments and decompose complex use cases to architect solutions rather than rote coding. Fluency in core languages (Python, SQL, TypeScript and/or REACT) and the capability to pick up others quickly. Understanding of data engineering principles, ETL pipelines, and application development. Familiarity with Palantir (Foundry, Gotham, or similar) is preferred but not mandatory; strong willingness to learn is required.
  • High EQ & Curiosity: Emotional intelligence to manage client expectations, a proactive self‑starting nature, and humility to seek help when needed.
  • Impact‑Driven Communication: Ability to drive a team to present impressive demos, simplify complexity for non‑technical users, and focus on delivering genuine client impact.
