SENIOR BANKING ARCHITECT

Leads end-to-end architecture analysis, design and delivery on banking consulting and implementation programmes, combining deep domain expertise with a strong command of modern technologies to shape clients' digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture analysis, design and delivery on banking transformation programmes, acting as the primary technical reference for clients and delivery teams.
  • Define target-state architectures spanning core banking, digital channels, payments, cards and CRM.
  • Drive migration from monolithic platforms towards modular, API-first, cloud-native architectures.
  • Produce high-level designs, architecture diagrams, flow diagrams and other design artefacts to communicate solutions effectively.
  • Define and lead technology and solution roadmaps in collaboration with client stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and recommend core banking packages and ecosystem solutions (Temenos, Mambu, Finacle, Oracle FLEXCUBE, n Cino, Salesforce FSC, etc.).
  • Support pre-sales activities: proposals, RFP responses, solutioning and effort estimations.
  • Mentor junior architects and foster a culture of technical excellence.

Experience & Background

  • In depth experience in Banking consulting and/or implementation projects.
  • Proven track record as a technical or solution architect in banking transformation programmes.
  • Experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 banking institutions.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks (PSD2, Open Banking, DORA, Basel III, AML/KYC).
  • Nice to have: Platform knowledge on any Temenos, Oracle Banking, TM, Mambu, Intellect Design, SAP
  • Banking Domain Knowledge

Candidates are expected to have hands-on experience across several of the following domains, with recognised depth in at least one:

  • Core Banking: Deposits, Lending, Mortgages, Insurance, Securities; knowledge of BIAN framework is valued.
  • Payments: SEPA, SWIFT, High-Value Payments, Card Payments, ISO 20022.
  • Digital Banking: online/mobile banking, Open Banking, customer onboarding.
  • CRM & Customer Engagement (Salesforce FSC, MS Dynamics or similar).
  • Risk, Compliance and Regulatory Reporting.
  • Technical Skills

Candidates are expected to demonstrate breadth across modern technology disciplines, with recognised depth in several of the following areas:

  • Architecture patterns: Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, API-first, Domain-Driven Design.
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), including deployments for regulated industries.
  • Integration technologies: REST/SOAP APIs, Kafka, MQ, Apache Camel or equivalent.
  • Data architecture and business intelligence: data modelling, data platforms, analytics and BI tooling.
  • AI/ML applied to banking use cases (fraud detection, credit scoring, personalisation).
  • Dev Sec

Ops: CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Agile and scaled agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum).
  • Other Requirements
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken; additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong communication skills; able to present complex topics to executive audiences.
  • Familiarity with AI tools as part of day-to-day working practice.
