Responsibilities
- Work for public sector and adjacent clients supporting their missions associated with UK sovereign transformation.
- Work with clients through strategy, solution, and delivery, using bespoke methods to research, test and deploy securely at scale.
- Learn and grow – actively encouraged and supported with continuous learning and certification.
- Serve as a cloud, data, and AI evangelist, educating customers on the values such technologies and approaches can bring to transform their business.
- Align complex business objectives with scalable, secure cloud solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Drive innovation across data, AI, security, and multi‑cloud strategies, enabling digital transformation.
- Design use‑case and platform technology architectures to solve key business challenges using reference and cutting‑edge technologies and architectural patterns.
- Work in multi‑disciplinary teams to refine and deliver architecture, supporting the delivery from inception through to production.
- Provide technical leadership to shape technology strategy and solution design, managing and supporting other architects and engineers.
- Contribute to the STS and wider Data & AI community, sharing insights and experience to guide the creation and establishment of standard patterns and templates for emerging technologies.
- Mentor managers and consultants, building technical capability and leadership within the team.
- Engage senior stakeholders, presenting cloud strategies and architectures to executive boards and governance forums.
Qualifications
- AI/ML architectural patterns, best practices, and platform technologies.
- Experience designing AI/ML‑driven solutions and data lifecycle management.
- Data solution design with selection of appropriate cloud‑native services for data processing, management, and storage, emphasizing serverless microservices.
- Cloud infrastructure (networking, security, monitoring, scaling).
- Hands‑on data architecture experience with programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, or architecture‑as‑code (e.g., linkml, turtle, owl).
- Experience with both open source and vendor data platforms.
- Experience with data architecture, architectural concepts, methodologies, and approaches.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Experience designing for both structured and unstructured data.
- Strong communication skills – effectively explain complex technical solutions to non‑technical audiences, write clear guidance, and give impactful presentations.
- Critical thinking – analyse and evaluate information, use gathered data to present solutions and reach decisions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively, manage stakeholders, and work in partnership with others.
- Foundational certifications in AWS and/or GCP.
- Specialist certifications in AWS and/or GCP on data engineering and/or AI/ML (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty).
