As a Consulting Engineer - Forward Deployed, you will operate with high individual ownership. You’ll design solutions that unify complex data landscapes, build workflows that drive smarter decisions, and partner with organisations to deliver sustainable transformation. Working directly with your clients you will be the face of AOBG, requiring a unique blend of technical mastery and high emotional intelligence (EQ) to navigate complex environments. You will have creative freedom to architect solutions, working iteratively to build fast, manage your own backlog, showcase your work to clients and refine it based on real‑time feedback.
What You'll Do
- End‑to‑End Delivery: Take significant individual ownership of client problems, handling everything from deep data engineering, which may require low/no code Palantir Foundry tooling, or Python and PySpark code repos, to building user‑facing front‑end applications and widgets in TypeScript or REACT.
- Client Advisory & Translation: Sit directly alongside clients, distinguish their goals and requirements and translate complex technical language into stakeholder‑appropriate communication.
- AI Integration: Actively embed AI workflows into existing applications using cutting‑edge tools like AIP Logic Functions, AIP Analysts, and AIFDE.
- Decho Labs Innovation: Contribute to Decho Labs to build tangible internal products. Feed your deployment learnings back into the company so teams learn from your success and we create compounding assets of value for internal and external use.
- Innate Collaboration: Responsible for self‑assignment of taskings, actively participate in our "show and tell" culture through teach‑backs and tech reviews and uplift your peers through highly active internal support channels.
What We Are Looking For
- Problem Solvers: We highly value individuals who can navigate nuanced client environments. We care more about your ability to decompose complex use cases and architect solutions than rote memorisation of coding syntax. Fluency in core languages (Python, SQL, TypeScript and/or REACT) and the capability to pick up others quickly. You should understand data engineering principles, ETL pipelines, and application development. Familiarity with Palantir (Foundry, Gotham, or similar) is preferred but not mandatory provided you have a strong willingness to learn.
- High EQ & Curiosity: The emotional intelligence to manage client expectations, a proactive self‑starting nature, and the humility to know you don’t know everything and search for and accept help.
- Impact‑Driven Communication: The ability to present impressive demos, simplify complexity for non‑technical users, and focus on delivering genuine client impact.
Flexibility and mobility are required to deliver this role as there will be requirements to spend time onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery of the first‑class services we are known for.
