Role Description: Responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimising network security controls, with a primary focus on firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network threat detection. The role ensures network security configurations are effective, aligned to security policy, and support SOC detection and incident response activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage firewall, IDS, and IPS security controls.
- Validate, review, and assess firewall rule changes from a security perspective.
- Analyse IDS/IPS alerts and support SOC investigations.
- Tune firewall and IPS/IDS policies to reduce false positives and improve detection.
- Support incident response by providing network-level analysis and containment guidance.
- Review network traffic patterns to identify anomalous or malicious behaviour.
- Ensure firewall and network security configurations align with security standards and policies.
- Support onboarding and integration of network devices into SIEM and SOAR platforms.
- Assist with network security assessments and policy reviews.
- Work with network and infrastructure teams to improve network security posture.
Role Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 5–7 years in network security, SOC or security engineering roles. Hands-on experience working with enterprise firewalls and IDS/IPS technologies.
Certifications (preferred): Vendor firewall certifications – Palo Alto PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, etc., GIAC or GCED or equivalent.
Essential Skills: Strong understanding of firewall architectures and policy management, experience with IDS/IPS technologies and threat detection techniques, analyse network traffic and identify malicious activity, understanding of network protocols, segmentation and secure network design, familiarity with SIEM platforms, strong communication and collaboration skills.
