The Role
We’re looking for a Test Automation Associate Manager who is still very much in the code every day, while also stepping up to own tooling strategy, framework definition, and team leadership across client engagements. This is a role for a senior practitioner making the transition into management – someone who leads by doing, earns credibility through technical contribution, and is beginning to shape quality strategy at the account level.
What You’ll Do
- Hands‑on every day – writing automation scripts, building and evolving frameworks, reviewing code, and setting the technical standard for your team through active contribution.
- Define and own tooling strategies and automation frameworks across your client accounts, ensuring they are scalable, fit‑for‑purpose, and aligned to delivery goals.
- Conduct QE framework assessments and maturity evaluations, identifying gaps and producing clear recommendations and improvement roadmaps.
- Lead and support a team of QE automation engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and day‑to‑day management.
- Support the development and execution of Quality Engineering strategies in collaboration with senior managers.
- Manage client relationships at the project level, communicating progress, risks, and recommendations confidently to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Drive adoption of GenAI tooling within the team, including Playwright with MCP, GitHub Copilot, and Claude.
- Contribute to internal QE community initiatives and help define team standards and best practices.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong hands‑on technician first – you are still writing and reviewing code daily, and your technical credibility is what makes you an effective leader at this level.
- Proficiency in at least one OOP language: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, or C# – and the ability to build and assess automation frameworks, not just use them.
- Hands‑on experience with GenAI in a QE context (e.g. Playwright with MCP) and AI‑assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude).
- Proven ability to define tooling strategies and automation frameworks, and to conduct structured QE assessments across client environments.
- Experience leading or mentoring a QE or automation engineering team, with a growing focus on people development.
- Several years defining and implementing modern Quality Engineering practices including automated testing.
- Good client‑facing skills – able to manage delivery relationships and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- A collaborative, egoless approach and a passion for quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Comfortable with the variety consulting brings – you adapt your stack and approach to meet client needs.
