Role: Content Designer
Location: Newcastle (3 days a week hybrid)
Please Note: Due to the nature of client work you will be undertaking, you will need to be willing to go through a Security Clearance process as part of this role, which requires 5+ years UK address history at the point of application.

As a team:
Content Designers (or UX Designers) use data and research to create, update and review content so that it is consistent across client services and in line with client design principles and standards. They design both micro- and long-form content to meet user needs and make complicated language and processes easy to understand. They collaborate with user researchers and other designers to understand user needs and improve the end-to-end user journey. They build relationships with stakeholders to make sure developed content is factually accurate and meets the needs of users. They work within multidisciplinary Scrum teams comprised of User Researchers, Interaction Designers, Business Analysts, Developers and other specialists to create User-Centred Designs for digital products and services.
This is a great opportunity to work across multiple different clients in a range of industries. As a member of our close-knit UX and Design team, you will champion the value of User-Centred Design as part of delivery best practice across all digital products and services.
Content Designers are expected to:
- Create high quality content (both micro- and long-form content) which is clear, easy to understand, and accessible for all audiences across multiple platforms and devices.
- Lead and align content design activities, ensuring teams take a user-centred, evidence-based approach to content design and delivery.
- Use data and research findings to inform your content decisions.
- Make sure your content is accurate by working closely with Subject Matter Experts.
- Collaborate with other teams and specialisms, like UX Designers, User Researchers, Developers, and others.
- Understand user journeys and the role UX writing plays in improving those user journeys.
- Report on and present your work, both internally and to client partners
- Take an evidence-led approach to your work, continuously improving long-form and micro-content based on user feedback, analytics, and industry best practices to improve usability, engagement, and conversion rates.
- Ensure that content follows all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including accessibility standards, privacy laws, and industry regulations.
- Work independently, to a high standard, as the sole UX Writer within a Scrum/Agile team.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Worked in a UX Writer or Content Design role (ie a role which leverages User-Centred Design principles)
- Experience advocating for User-Centred Design
- Experience negotiating with and influencing senior stakeholders
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with brand tone of voice guidelines, design patterns and style guides
Set yourself apart:
- Working with the Government Digital Service (GDS) design principals.
- Working in an Agile or similar multidisciplinary environment.
- Using Markdown or HTML.
