Overview
The AWS Pre-Sales Architect - Mainframe Modernization is a client-facing technical role supporting Accenture’s legacy and mainframe modernization pursuits across Southeast Asia. The role partners with Client Account Teams to assess existing mainframe environments, shape modernization strategies, and build technical demonstrations or proof-of-value (PoV) solutions that help clients confidently modernize mission-critical systems on AWS.
Mandatory
- Experience in pre-sales, solutioning, or client-facing technical roles
- Hands-on Assessment (mainframe applications, infrastructure, and dependencies), Demo & PoV Development
- Strong understanding of mainframe platforms, legacy applications, and batch processing
- Hands-on experience in mainframe or legacy system modernization/migration
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud services and modernization patterns
- Ability to communicate legacy-to-cloud transformation strategies to senior stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience with Blu Age, Micro Focus, or similar tools
- Banking / financial services domain exposure (e.g., core banking, payments, risk platforms)
- Familiarity with TCO analysis, modernization roadmaps, and regulatory considerations
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; AWS certifications preferred
- Good track record in mainframe or enterprise modernization
- Comfortable leading technical discussions, demos, and executive presentations
- Experience across Southeast Asia markets is a plus.
Ways of Working
Client Engagement & Deal Shaping
- Engage clients in mainframe discovery, assessment, and modernization discussions
- Partner with Client Account Teams to shape modernization opportunities from discovery through proposal
- Communicate modernization strategies, trade-offs, risks, and transformation approaches to technical and business stakeholders
- Support RFP/RFI responses, proposals, and executive presentations
- Contribute to business case development including cost, risk reduction, agility, and talent sustainability
Hands-On Assessment, Demo & PoV Development
- Conduct technical assessments of existing mainframe applications, infrastructure, and dependencies
- Build demos, prototypes, or proof-of-value (PoV) solutions using AWS Mainframe Modernization services
- Work with delivery teams to transition PoVs into pilot or full modernization programs
- Develop demonstrations covering:
- Workload discovery and dependency analysis
- Rehost, replatform, and refactor modernization approaches
- Batch, transaction, and data modernization patterns
- Use demos to validate modernization approaches and reduce client risk perception
AWS Mainframe Modernization Solution Design
- Design AWS-based modernization architectures aligned with client constraints and risk appetite
- Apply modernization strategies including retain, rehost, replatform, refactor, re-imagine, and retire
- Ensure designs align with AWS best practices for security, resiliency, and operational readiness
- Translate complex legacy architectures into clear solution narratives and diagrams
Stakeholder & Partner Collaboration
- Act as a trusted modernization advisor to client architects, infrastructure leaders, and executives
- Serve as a technical interface between Accenture, AWS, and modernization technology partners
- Support joint Accenture–AWS workshops and go-to-market activities focused on mainframe transformation
