This healthcare technology and diagnostics organisation is focused on expanding access to care through rapid, point-of-care diagnostic testing. The Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer will work within a cross-functional systems engineering team to develop regulated medical devices that deliver clear, actionable diagnostic results. You'll contribute to products that are intuitive, reliable and secure, with primary responsibility for the conceptualisation, design and testing of electromechanical equipment and systems, working closely with other engineers to create system specifications and detailed technical designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and test components such as sensors, actuators and other electromechanical devices within diagnostic systems
  • Create accurate project and technical documentation, including schematics, technical reports and operational manuals
  • Implement and refine automation processes
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate electronic control systems into mechanical frameworks
  • Conduct practical investigations to adopt new technologies and improve system performance alongside cross-functional technical teams
  • Perform detailed analysis to assess the viability and integration of new technologies into existing systems
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to implement systems and engineering changes, and refine manufacturing processes where necessary

Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in a regulated industry where quality systems are essential, e.g. ISO 13485
  • Experience using CAD software (e.g. Altium, SolidWorks) for electromechanical designs intended for manufacture

Skills

  • Expert knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded firmware development/debugging of scripts and programs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and repairing lab instrumentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork skills
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision

Qualifications

  • MSc in Engineering (e.g. Systems, Biomedical, Mechatronics, Electronics) or a related discipline
