We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Software Asset Management (SAM) Lead to join our IT Services team in Cardiff. This hybrid role (2 days onsite, 3 days remote) offers the opportunity to take ownership of software asset lifecycle management, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across the organisation’s software estate.
You will be responsible for managing software assets, licenses, and configurations, while working closely with procurement and stakeholders to align asset management strategies with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the organisation’s software asset management function.
- Maintain accurate records of software licenses, entitlements, and installations through effective service and configuration management.
- Collaborate with procurement to support software purchasing decisions and vendor negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their software requirements and usage.
- Provide regular reports on software usage, compliance, and risk.
- Identify opportunities for software cost savings and optimization.
- Proven experience in software asset management or a similar IT services role.
- Strong knowledge of service and configuration management practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Demonstrated procurement experience, particularly in managing software licensing and vendor interactions.
- ITIL Foundation certification or knowledge of ITIL best practices.
