We’re partnering with a fast‑growing consultancy that’s expanding its Data & AI Architecture practice, and they’re looking for an experienced Microsoft Data Architect to help shape, sell and deliver modern analytics platforms built on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric and Databricks. This is a UK‑wide role – you can be based anywhere in the UK, with occasional client‑site travel and 1–2 days per month in either London or Manchester.
The Role
This is a senior, client‑facing role where you’ll sit at the intersection of architecture, delivery leadership and pre‑sales. You’ll work with enterprise clients to design scalable, governed data platforms and guide teams from early discovery through to successful delivery.
You’ll be trusted to:
- Lead architectural design for modern data platforms (Lakehouse, DW, streaming, AI/ML use cases)
- Engage confidently with C‑level stakeholders, technical leaders and engineering teams
- Own solution outcomes, ensuring real business value is delivered within agreed scope, time and budget
- Act as a Solution Architect in pre‑sales, shaping solutions and supporting bids and PoCs
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced Data Architect with a strong consulting mindset and a passion for designing modern, scalable data platforms. You’ll bring deep experience across enterprise data and analytics architectures, with particular strength in Azure, Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks, and the confidence to operate across both pre‑sales and delivery environments.
You should have:
- Proven experience designing and delivering modern data platforms, including Lakehouse, data warehouse and analytics solutions
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of Azure data services such as ADF, Azure SQL Database and Synapse
- Experience designing, implementing and maintaining end‑to‑end solutions using Microsoft Fabric
- Practical experience with Databricks Lakehouse architectures
- Solid grounding in data modelling (Kimball and/or 3NF) and modern data warehousing principles
- Strong SQL skills and experience with SQL and NoSQL technologies (e.g. Cosmos DB, Kusto / KQL)
- Experience building data pipelines from both cloud‑based and on‑premises data sources
- The ability to gather requirements and translate business objectives into secure, scalable and governed architectures
- Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and presenting architectural decisions to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Experience working in pre‑sales, including technical discovery, shaping solution designs, contributing to RFI/RFPs, producing estimates and delivering Proofs of Concept
- A consulting mindset – able to build trusted client relationships, challenge constructively on best practice, and take ownership of delivery outcomes
- Relevant certifications such as DP‑203, AZ‑305 or Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate are advantageous but not essential.
