We’re supporting a technology consultancy delivering automation, cloud and infrastructure transformation programmes within secure and highly regulated environments.
We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with strong Infrastructure as Code and automation expertise to help design, build and evolve modern infrastructure platforms.
This role will suit someone who enjoys engineering solutions through code, building reusable infrastructure patterns and automating platform delivery rather than manually administering environments.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for building and automating infrastructure platforms using Infrastructure as Code and modern automation tooling.
Working as part of a highly technical engineering team, you’ll design, develop and maintain scalable infrastructure solutions, driving automation across cloud and hybrid environments.
A significant focus of the role will be around Ansible in the short term, with increasing emphasis on Terraform and Infrastructure as Code throughout 2027.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.
- Design and build automation solutions using Ansible.
- Create reusable infrastructure modules, templates and deployment patterns.
- Automate provisioning, configuration and deployment processes.
- Contribute to platform engineering and CI/CD initiatives.
- Support cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS environments.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers and stakeholders to deliver scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Improve platform reliability, consistency and operational efficiency through automation.
- Produce technical documentation and engineering standards.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Ansible.
- Experience developing and maintaining Ansible playbooks, roles and automation workflows.
- Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience writing and maintaining infrastructure code from scratch.
- Good scripting skills using Python, PowerShell or Bash.
- Experience working with Git‑based workflows and version control.
- Cloud experience within Azure and/or AWS.
- Understanding of CI/CD principles and automation pipelines.
- Strong infrastructure knowledge across Windows, Linux or hybrid environments.
- Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), AWX or Ansible Tower.
- Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- Consultancy experience.
- Experience within Government, Defence, Financial Services or other regulated sectors.
- Active SC Clearance.
