Type: Permanent | Full-Time | On-Site

We’re working with an established technology business that designs and manufactures high-performance RF systems for demanding applications. They’re now looking for an experienced RF Design Engineer to take ownership of power amplifier development — from first concept through to production-ready hardware. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys building, testing, refining, and shipping real products.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for developing RF amplifier hardware across low to high power ranges, working closely with electronics, mechanical, and test teams. Your work will cover:

  • Creating end-to-end RF amplifier designs from specification to manufacture
  • Running simulations and optimisation for performance, efficiency, and reliability
  • Designing RF schematics and multilayer PCB layouts with controlled impedance
  • Selecting and integrating active devices, biasing, and protection circuitry
  • Building and tuning matching networks and filters
  • Supporting antenna integration and impedance matching
  • Leading lab validation using industry-standard RF test equipment
  • Preparing full technical documentation for release and production
  • Managing design revisions, BoMs, and change records

You’ll be deeply involved in both design and verification — this is not a desk-only role.

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in engineers who bring strong practical RF experience and enjoy working end-to-end.

Essential experience:
  • Proven background in RF power amplifier design
  • Solid understanding of S-parameters, stability, thermal behaviour, and linearity
  • Strong PCB layout skills for RF and mixed-signal designs
  • Confident using Pulsonix for schematics and layout
  • Experience setting up and interpreting RF measurements (VNA, spectrum, power meters)
  • Knowledge of antenna matching and feed networks
  • Hands-on prototyping and rework capability
  • Ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation
  • Willingness to work fully on site
Nice to Have

Not essential, but highly valued:

  • Experience with GaN and LDMOS devices
  • Thermal management and mechanical integration knowledge
  • Linearisation or feedback techniques
  • EMC awareness and pre-compliance testing
  • Use of tools such as ADS, AWR, or similar
  • Automated testing with Python or equivalent
  • Exposure to antenna measurement environments
What’s in It for You
  • Competitive salary up to £60k
  • Company pension
  • Free on-site parking
  • Stable, long-term engineering environment
  • Opportunity to work on real-world RF products from concept to launch
