We’re working with an organisation looking to appoint a Lab / Calibration Manager to lead and develop their technical function. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across calibration and testing activities.
The Role
- You’ll take ownership of the technical performance of the laboratory, ensuring all work is delivered to the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all technical and laboratory operations within your discipline
- Maintaining and expanding UKAS accreditation (ISO 17025 / 17020 / 9001)
- Acting as the technical authority, approving methods and staff competency
- Overseeing calibration methods, validation, and measurement uncertainty
- Leading external audits and always ensuring audit readiness
- Managing equipment, ensuring traceability and suitability for use
- Driving continuous improvement and development of new capabilities
- Working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- HNC, HND or Degree level Qualification in relevant field
- Background in a calibration, test, or laboratory environment
- Experience with ISO 17025 / UKAS accreditation
- Previous technical leadership or senior engineering experience
- Knowledge of measurement uncertainty, method validation, and quality systems
- Confident leading audits and making technical decisions
- Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
