Technical Support Engineer | UK | Full-Time
Are you an electronics-focused engineer who enjoys solving problems, troubleshooting equipment and working directly with customers? We're working with a growing technology business that is looking for a hands-on Technical Support Engineer to join its team.
This is a varied role that combines technical support, fault finding, product testing, production support and engineering development. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional desk-based support position.
The Role
You'll become an important technical point of contact for both customers and internal teams, helping to diagnose problems, provide practical solutions and support the testing and development of technical products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical support to customers by phone and email.
- Diagnosing faults and troubleshooting electronic and electrical equipment.
- Delivering product and technical training to customers and partners.
- Travelling to customer sites when required.
- Supporting production with technical issues and product testing.
- Using electronic test equipment and technical software.
- Building and maintaining test jigs, fixtures and test equipment.
- Feeding customer and technical insight into product improvements.
- Supporting R&D and new product development activities.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in engineers who have:
- A good understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
- Practical fault-finding and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience using multimeters and electronic test equipment.
- The ability to read electrical/electronic schematics.
- Good IT and technical software skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues.
- A full UK driving license and willingness to travel when required.
- Experience in fire, security, building technology, manufacturing, production testing or a similar technical environment would be advantageous, as would an engineering/electronics qualification.
The Opportunity
This isn't a role where you'll be doing the same thing every day. You'll have exposure to customers, electronics, testing, production, troubleshooting and product development, giving you the opportunity to broaden your technical experience while becoming a key member of a growing technology business.
