Lead the design of innovative consumer tech products. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing R&D team and take ownership of new product development. You will work across the full design lifecycle — from concept and CAD modelling to supplier collaboration, technical reviews and preparing designs for mass production.
This role is ideal for someone with strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar), experience in consumer products, and the confidence to lead design direction while supporting the wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities- Lead mechanical and industrial design from concept to production
- Create high-quality 3D CAD and engineering drawings
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers to refine designs
- Define assembly methods and ensure designs are manufacturing-ready
- Support thermal simulation work with accurate drawings
- Drive design and test reviews, technical analysis and supplier communication
- Mentor junior engineers
- Quarterly travel to manufacturing partners (Mainland China)
- BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- 15+ years' experience in mechanical design
- Strong background in consumer electronics or similar products
- Full lifecycle design experience
- Excellent CAD skills and understanding of design principles
- Clear communication and confidence presenting to teams and leadership
- Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments
- Portfolio or examples of previous work
Hours: Full-time | Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:30 (37.5 hrs) *Flexitime - Flexible working hours when working in the office. Start between: 7-10am, Finish between: 3-6pm. Team members are expected to be present for any meeting between these times. Ability to accrue up to 8 hours flexi time.
