Are you an experienced Power Electronics professional with the technical credibility, leadership, and authority to shape complex engineering programmes? We're seeking a Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of advanced power electronics projects. This is a senior-level position for an individual who can act as the technical authority within the business, guiding engineering teams, influencing customers, and ensuring the successful delivery of innovative solutions from concept through to prototype.
Working within a highly respected engineering consultancy, you'll combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, helping to define technical direction, mentor engineers, and represent the organisation at the highest levels with customers and stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing
- Acting as the senior technical authority for power electronics projects across multiple applications
- Providing technical leadership and oversight throughout the full product development lifecycle
- Defining system requirements, architectures, design approaches, and technology roadmaps
- Leading the development of advanced power electronic systems from concept through to prototype delivery
- Reviewing and approving critical technical decisions, ensuring engineering excellence and best practice
- Guiding the design of digital, analogue, and mixed-signal control systems and processing platforms
- Leading modelling, simulation, and validation activities to optimise system performance
- Advising on control strategies for power converters, inverters, and associated technologies
- Supporting business development activities and providing technical input to customer proposals
- Building trusted relationships with customers, acting as the senior technical representative for the business
- Mentoring and developing engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
- Balancing technical, commercial, and project delivery considerations to achieve successful outcomes
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience developing complex power electronic systems and solutions
- Recognised technical authority within power electronics, with the ability to lead and influence engineering teams
- Strong background in digital, analogue, and mixed-signal control and interface circuit design
- Expertise in modelling, simulation, and analysis of power electronic and magnetic systems
- Proven experience leading technically complex, multidisciplinary engineering programmes
- Strong understanding of power conversion technologies, including converters, inverters, and control systems
- Demonstrable experience engaging with customers and stakeholders at a senior technical level
- Ability to provide technical governance, challenge assumptions, and drive robust engineering decisions
- Strong commercial awareness within customer-focused engineering environments
- Degree qualified (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
