As a Senior HV Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of the electrical design across a range of high-voltage 33kV-400kV projects including grid connections, substations, battery storage systems, and renewable energy assets such as Wind Turbines. This is a key technical role where your expertise will directly contribute to the delivery of complex, safety-critical infrastructure within a team of industry-leading specialists. As a Senior Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- HV electrical designs (grid connections, Wind, Substations) from concept to completion
- Preparing and reviewing SLDs, layouts, cable sizing, protection schemes, and grid studies.
- Managing compliance with DNO, TSO (NGESO), CDM, and ENA standards.
- Supporting CAD teams to produce AC/DC schematics, layouts, and cable route drawings.
- Conducting or reviewing power system studies (load flow, fault level, harmonics, etc.).
The successful Senior Design Engineer should have:
- High-voltage electrical design experience, ideally within the UK power sectors
- Degree or HNC in Electrical / Power Engineering.
- Sound knowledge of National Grid and DNO/IDNO design requirements.
- Practical understanding of HV equipment (switchgear, protection relays, transformers).
