Accelerate Personnel are recruiting on behalf of our client for a temporary-permanent position based in Norwich, with occasional travel across the UK. The role involves servicing, maintenance, and repair of forklift fleets (primarily JCB, with Linde and Jungheinrich also present), including welding, fabrication, and general mechanical repairs. The successful candidate will take a hands-on, proactive approach and contribute to delivering high-quality work as part of a team or independently.
Responsibilities
- Carry out diagnostics, repairs, and servicing on a range of counterbalance forklift trucks, VNAβs, Telehandlers & Bucket loaders.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks to maintain and repair plant.
- Weekly travel to Harlow to service and repair work, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Actively plan and conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used and time on jobs.
- Provide excellent internal customer service and build strong relationships with business-critical departments.
- Work alongside other engineers to perform appropriate duties.
- Ensure all machinery and equipment operates effectively and safely, in compliance with health and safety regulations and certifications.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet service targets and deadlines.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a multi-skilled mechanic, ideally with JCBs or other industrial/agricultural machinery as the dominant role.
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to diagnose faults and conduct repairs.
- Full UK driving license.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload across multiple sites.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal functions and team members.

- Mechanical qualification
- Hydraulic systems knowledge
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations within the mechanical/industrial sector
- Electrical experience (preferred, but not essential)
