Accelerant connects selected specialty insurance underwriters ("Members") with risk capital partners through its data-driven risk exchange (the “Risk Exchange”). The Company, together with its risk capital partners, provide property and casualty insurance to policyholders via its network of Members, which are typically Managing General Agents ("MGAs"). The Company focuses on small-to-medium sized commercial clients primarily in the United States, Europe, Canada and the United Kingdom. Our MGA Operations division includes a portfolio of owned MGAs across the US, UK, and Europe, each operating with entrepreneurial independence but supported by shared services and oversight.

Accelerant is looking for a hands-on Controller to manage accounting and financial reporting prepared by our owned MGAs. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the owned MGAs periodic financial closes produce accurate and timely results.
  • Supporting external audits of local/statutory financial statements, as well as Accelerant Group reporting.
  • Continuing to strengthen internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
  • Reviewing and analysing financial results to ensure accuracy and alignment with Group accounting policies.
  • Implementing and monitoring financial controls to ensure ICFR / SOX compliance and strong financial governance.
  • Managing account reconciliations and supporting implementation of close workflow management tools.
  • Partnering with the finance systems team to improve efficiency and data quality across the close process.
  • Providing mentorship and oversight to small, local finance teams at the MGA level.
  • Promoting and driving finance transformation initiatives across the Owned MGA portfolio.

Prior experience in a multi-entity environment, ideally with MGA, insurance, or financial services exposure is required, along with approximately 7+ years of relevant experience in accounting, with a strong foundation in financial reporting and controls.
