The Business Engagement Lead ā Finance Operations acts as the primary bridge between Finance leadership and Technology, ensuring business priorities are understood and technology strategies aligned. The role captures business needs, shapes demand, guides product roadmaps, and ensures solutions are delivered with value.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as trusted advisor and primary interface for leadership in Finance Operations.
- Ensure IT investments and initiatives align directly to Finance strategy and business goals.
- Build trust and facilitate strategic dialogue between Finance and Technology.
- Capture, elicit and document Finance business requirements with precision.
- Translate business needs into actionable requirements and hand them off to delivery teams.
- Own and manage Finance products and capability roadmaps.
- Balance shortāterm delivery needs with longāterm platform capabilities.
- Own all business outcomes delivered by BSGIT for Finance Operations.
- Partner with delivery teams to ensure solutions provide measurable business benefit.
- Monitor progress, escape risks, and validate outcomes meet expectations.
- Act as primary interface with Finance leadership, representing business needs and priorities.
- Champion Finance's needs within enterprise planning and sequencing processes.
Experience
- 10+ years in business engagement, product management, or financeātechnology partnership roles within Financial Services, Insurance or Tech.
- Proven track record owning business outcomes for Finance while partnering with technology delivery.
- Experience leading a small team of Business Engagement resources and orchestrating outcomes across Finance Operations.
- Ability to translate complex Finance needs into clear, testable requirements and manage capability/product roadmaps.
- Handsāon exposure working alongside ERP/EPM and Finance transformation programs.
- Professional credentials such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or product/analysis certifications.
- Requirements elicitation & documentation: user stories, acceptance criteria, process mapping, traceability to outcomes.
- Roadmap & prioritization: demand intake, sequencing, valueābased prioritization with success criteria.
- Stakeholder leadership: seniorālevel facilitation, influence, conflict resolution, executiveāready communication.
- Portfolio governance: intake triage, dependency/risk management, outcome tracking across Finance workstreams.
- Financial & analytical acumen: interpreting P&L/BS/Cash Flow and translating into system requirements.
- Change management & adoption: readiness planning, training, enablement, embedding business processes.
- Data literacy: Finance data models, controls, reporting/MI needs, regulatory considerations (e.g., audit/SOX).
- Experience with Coupa or other spend management system(s).
- Familiarity with insurance/finance regulatory frameworks (SoX, US GAAP) and internal controls.
- Exposure to data & integration ecosystems (Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, dbt, middleware).
- Knowledge of Agile/Scaled Agile practices and product tooling (Jira, Azure DevOps).
