Accelerant is a data-driven risk exchange connecting underwriters of specialty insurance risk with risk capital providers. Founded in 2018 by a group of insurance industry executives and technology experts, Accelerant aims to rebuild the way risk is exchanged for better outcomes. The risk exchange operates across more than 20 countries and 250 specialty products, with insurers awarded an AM Best A- (Excellent) rating.

Overview: Accelerant is looking for an Operations Manager to join our UK and Europe Operations Team, reporting to the Operations Lead UK and Europe. You will collaborate with Sales & Distribution, Technology, Finance, and Outsourced Operations teams to manage data onboarding, premium, and cash management of specialty underwriters within Europe and the UK, referred to as members. This role involves building relationships and gaining intimate knowledge of our members' data, technology, and processes, serving as the point of contact for all data queries, problems, and solutions. You will assist members in analysing and resolving data quality issues impacting data ingestion, regulatory compliance, and reporting, utilising your knowledge of applicable data standards. Your contributions will support the overall success of the Operations function, which is focused on transforming data processes to deliver governed, timely, and high-fidelity data sources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Member Onboarding: Manage operational due diligence and onboarding procedures for new members and business expansions. Coordinate and manage bank accounts, systems, and regulatory reports onboarding procedures. Onboard new tax authorities and liaise with the Tax department. Manage reconciliation between written and paid bordereaux against cash received, overseeing the transition to the Outsourced Operations team and DUA & Credit Control teams. Liaise with members on invoicing procedures at the onboarding stage. Ensure the Member Crib sheet has extensive notes for both Delegated Underwriting Authority and Credit Control Teams.
  • Operations Management: Manage operational procedures and adherence to controls. Manage bordereaux and query resolution KPIs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Provide Operations Health reports for monthly member meetings. Deliver operational KPIs for onboarding, premium, and cash operations alongside the team. Oversee collection procedures and act as a point of escalation for Credit Controllers on difficult collections. Ensure debt targets are met and continuously improve upon them with enhanced working practices. Investigate and resolve queries internally and externally regarding outstanding items. Provide management oversight to outsourced operations to ensure operational KPIs are met. Collaborate with senior management to develop reporting processes, controls, and systems. Assist in implementing new procedures and maintaining internal controls to ensure compliance.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to significant operational changes.
  • Capable of accomplishing tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for highly technical items.
  • 5+ years of experience in Property, Liability, and Specialty Insurance.
  • Solid technical knowledge of creating and processing bordereaux.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken; European languages are advantageous.
  • Lloyd's Market experience.
  • Experience managing MGA Operations, preferably in the specialty market.
  • Articulate and confident in person, able to fit into a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a 'can do' attitude and the ability to build relationships across different levels of business.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and contribute to team objectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
