AI Research Engineer

A fast-growing defence tech startup focused on AI and software for autonomous systems is hiring an AI Research Engineer for their remote team. Partnered with a third-party recruiter, this well-funded company is committed to protecting democratic values through innovative engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement AI/ML models for enterprise software and edge devices (e.g., drones, robots).
• Work with clients to address complex challenges using AI-driven solutions.
• Optimise models for resource-limited environments while tackling ethical and data concerns.
• Influence the company’s AI strategy with significant autonomy.

Requirements:

• MSc in CS, AI, ML, or robotics (PhD preferred).
• 4+ years of ML experience (e.g., scene understanding, multi-modal sensing).
• Expertise in Python, Rust, C++, or Java, as well as frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

• Bonus : Experience with MLOps, sensor modalities, or deploying production models.
• Note : Diverse backgrounds are encouraged; not all criteria are mandatory.
• Security : Must be eligible for UK security clearance (SC or higher, 5+ years UK residency).
