ACCA is committed to a workplace culture which is inclusive, diverse, human and connected. We are currently looking for a Regional Head of Public Affairs on a full time, permanent basis. This position sits within the Relationships team. We are flexible on the location of this role.
This role is accountable for leading the creation and development of a regional network of high impact relationships with public affairs partners and stakeholders encompassing government agencies, central banks, regulators, national and regional accountancy bodies and international development organisations. Through these relationships the role holder builds and amplifies ACCA's brand presence and profile, and leverages opportunities to maximise our contribution to the profession, the economy and society as a whole.
The Job
Reporting to the Director, EEMA, on a day-to-day basis, you will be involved in the following:
- Leads the creation and execution of strategies and plans for the development of public affairs relationships across the region as part of ACCA's integrated ecosystem.
- Leads the identification and implementation of opportunities and initiatives to build ACCA's profile and contribution through relationships with public affairs stakeholders across the region and globally.
- Determines which opportunities, partners and stakeholders should be prioritised as part of the overall plan based on an understanding of overall impact and benefit.
- Works with the Market Director and regional leadership team to ensure public affairs activities and plans are outcome focused and are aligned and integrated with wider planning.
- Leads and drives the achievement of key outcomes and measures through effective leadership of the public affairs community.
- As part of the regional leadership team, leads the development of ACCA's regional ecosystem, making and facilitating high value connections between partners.
- Through leadership of the public affairs community, ensures that global solutions and content are leveraged and consistently implemented.
- Acts as a key external ambassador for ACCA, representing the brand and organisation to maximise impact on profile and reputation.
- As part of the regional leadership team, provides leadership and direction to the regional team in order to drive and enhance ACCA's business, profile and brand.
- Leads and inspires the regional community of public affairs professionals by role modelling the ACCA behaviours, sharing expertise and best practice, building engagement and supporting performance and development.
- Guides, coaches and mentors colleagues to build expertise, motivate, retain and optimise performance regionally.
The Person
We are looking for someone who has:
- Extensive experience in a professional firm, consulting or financial services environment.
- An accountancy qualification would be preferred.
- Deep understanding of the government, regulatory and accountancy landscape in the relevant region.
- Ability to think strategically, translate business strategy into business plans, and communicate strategic plans effectively.
- Ability to provide leadership, inspire and motivate a community of colleagues.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build long term, high quality, trusted relationships at the most senior levels.
- Outstanding communicator with excellent presentation skills, both written and oral.
- Highly skilled networker with advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
- Highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic with the ability to plan and organise work to meet stretching targets.
