Abacus Accountancy is a family-run practice, established in 1990, working with SME owners across Selby, Goole and Howden and nationwide. We want our clients to sleep better at night knowing their finances are sorted. You'll lead the team that makes that happen, with straight-talking advice, smart tech and a friendly face.
We're looking for a Year End Team Leader to run our Year End team: setting the standard, developing the people, and growing the team.
Salary & hours
£35,000 – £50,000 depending on experience.
Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm, office-based at Brackenholme Business Park (no city traffic).

What You'll Do
- Lead, coach and develop the Year End team so everyone hits their performance standards.
- Own quality: set the review standard, decide what needs your sign-off, and build the checks so the team gets it right first time.
- Manage workflow and capacity so deadlines are met.
- Advise clients on tax planning: profit extraction, salary and dividend mix, pension contributions, capital allowances and planning ahead of the year end.
- Use each set of year-end accounts as a chance to talk to clients about what's next, not just what's happened.
- Support owners with bigger decisions, such as incorporation, restructuring, and selling or passing on the business.
- Be a senior point of contact for key clients, and spot where they need more from us.
- Improve how we work.
- Grow the team's portfolio.
What We're Looking For
- ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT or MAAT/FMAAT, or equivalent experience of statutory accounts and tax returns in practice.
- Hands-on tax planning experience for owner-managed businesses and their directors.
- Experience of supervising or leading a team in practice is a real advantage.
- Strong Xero skills (FreeAgent a plus) and an appetite for new technology.
- Full driving licence and own vehicle.
