Overview
The Health Insurance HIA (the βHIAβ) is the statutory regulator of the health insurance sector in Ireland. The HIA plays a key role as an independent regulator, a provider of consumer information, an adviser to the Minister for Health, and as the custodian of the Health Insurance Risk Equalisation Fund. The HIA is a small, dynamic organisation that is committed to delivering on its vision for a well-functioning and transparent health insurance market, where consumers understand their rights and feel empowered in their decisions.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Head of Operations, work with every member of the HIA to ensure the smooth running of the finance function.
- Maintain perspective and support others during periods of organisational or operational pressure.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy and be supported by the Executive Officer, Finance and the wider corporate services team; ability to manage different workstreams effectively is key.
- Maintain a key reporting relationship with the Head of the Risk Equalisation Fund; prepare the management accounts and ad hoc reports on the Risk Equalisation Fund as a key deliverable.
- Propose and execute operational improvement projects in the finance function and beyond; balance regular deliverables with ad hoc project work.
- Regularly report to the senior management team on all aspects of the finance function; may from time to time report to the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board, requiring professional preparation and clear, persuasive presentation skills.
