Michael Page are partnering with a well-established, growing UK business to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their team in Llandudno. This is not a traditional invoice-processing position. While there is a transactional foundation, this role is designed to be the right-hand support to the Finance Manager, with real exposure to process improvement, automation, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
You’ll sit at the heart of the finance operation, supporting core accounting activity while also helping to improve how things are done. The existing team is strong and process-driven – what’s needed now is someone who can challenge, enhance and evolve workflows, not just follow them. This role would suit someone who enjoys problem-solving, improving efficiency and being involved in how finance operates, not just the outputs.
Description- Supporting monthly management accounts and period-end close
- Producing daily, weekly and monthly reporting packs
- Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and financial records
- Processing supplier invoices, expenses and payment requests
- Supporting finance KPIs, forecasting and budgeting inputs
- Acting as a key support to the Finance Manager across ad hoc finance projects
- Identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and improve accuracy
- Contributing to continuous improvement and automation initiatives
- Using Excel extensively to analyse, reconcile and improve financial data
- Ideally working towards a qualification in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in the retail industry or a similar sector.
- Proficiency with accounting software and tools.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
