Amazon Flex is at the forefront of delivery operations, owning a significant piece of Amazon's "Last Mile" delivery strategy both currently and into the future. The Flex model utilizes independent contractors to help fulfill "Ultrafast" customer deliveries including Amazon Grocery, Whole Foods, same day Amazon.com orders and beyond.
Our Finance team works closely with Technology, Product, and Program Managers to track performance reporting and support analysis for optimisation of labour planning, pricing, routing and expansion opportunities which help improve safety, customer quality and reduce costs. With a rapidly expanding team and scope, we are looking for a Finance Manager who is a creative problem solver to support our growth while gaining excellent Operations Finance experience. This role will support Flex finance in EU, working closely with the EU Flex business team and cross‑functional business leaders across the Last Mile organisation.
This role partners closely with a broad range of global finance and business leaders in Flex Operations, Flex Tech, Amazon Logistics (AMZL), and Global Specialty Fulfilment (GSF). You will work with business operators, technical product managers, legal teams and software developers while designing and developing performance measurements and quantifying impact to the business based on strategic input drivers to grow and continuously improve the economics of the business.
Key job responsibilities:- Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon.
- Identify, resolve, or provide guidance to manage complex data sets and analyses.
- Bring in insights to address financial risk and support frugality.
- Use active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner.
- Collect and analyse quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions.
- Drive own self‑development in the Finance Community: seek opportunities to expand finance expertise.
- Participate in events, initiatives, and projects, then share gained knowledge in and outside of your team.
- Contribute to work life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science).
- Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
- Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision‑making.
- Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis.
- Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
- MBA, or CMA or CPA.
- Experience with SQL or ETL.
- Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan.
- Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits).
- Experience working with large‑scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
