Any National Acas Office (excludes London) with an element of working from home. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in Great Britain and not overseas. Informal hybrid arrangements are available and the balance between home and workplace working is agreed with the line manager to achieve the right balance between collaboration, in-person engagement and flexibility.
Job Summary
This role is part of the Organisational Capability Team which focuses on building capability and confidence for our managers and leaders to provide the best environments for their teams.
The team will bring our People & Culture strategy to life through their interventions with colleagues across Acas and are key to creating meaningful impact in the organisation. This is a high profile, dynamic and creative role which will provide an excellent opportunity to work on building people management capability and supporting organisational change initiatives. The work is varied and ranges from delivering sessions to teams through to partnering with leaders to think through people issues, resolve conflict and build better and stronger working relations and environments.
Job Description
In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with the People team and front-line managers to promote consistency of people practice across teams and build capability and confidence of managers.
  • Work with the Organisation Capability Lead to identify development areas and build support mechanisms for colleagues to self-serve where possible.
  • Provide relevant capability interventions to raise confidence, capability and understanding of revised people policies / guidance.
  • Deliver a portfolio of business specific programmes and projects, within the specified time frame, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the team inboxes and respond to queries accordingly.
  • Manage a network of coaches and mediators across the organisation to ensure access is available to coach and mentor managers and enable them to take proactive steps to deal with staff issues.
  • Organise and facilitate workshops and group coaching sessions to gather insight and build capability.
  • Develop excellent knowledge of business areas to work in partnership with the business and People Directorate colleagues, providing experiential learning to help build the capability of the business.
  • Evaluate interventions and use data where appropriate to measure success of programmes and ensure behaviour change takes place for participants.
  • Manage projects focusing on stakeholder engagement and change management best practice.
  • Build relationships and form alliances with internal and external specialists and other stakeholders to scan for emerging trends, innovations and current best practice and share knowledge and expertise.

Experience
Essential Criteria:

  • Is an excellent communicator and collaborator with proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Experience of coaching, mentoring and upskilling staff both individually and working within groups to build leadership and management capability.
  • Has experience of leading and motivating colleagues.
  • Is confident to deliver presentations and facilitate group sessions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage across all levels including at Director level.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Designing and delivering learning and capability interventions.
  • Project management skills – experience of managing organisational projects working in partnership with the business.

Technical
Essential Criteria:

  • CIPD Level 3 qualification or coaching qualification or equivalent experience (with the willingness to work towards CIPD Membership).
  • Specialist knowledge of coaching, people development or operational management.

Desirable Criteria:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or Level 5 Coaching qualification or equivalent experience (with the willingness to work towards CIPD Membership).

Qualifications

The interview will be a Behaviour , Experience and Strength based interview and will require a 5 minute Presentation , the topic will be provided at interview stage.
A reserve list will be created for this position, this means that if you have passed the interview, but we couldn’t offer you this position, you’ll be on a reserve list for 12 months if a similar position becomes available.
