Teaching Assistant

Actual salary: £19,328 to £21,261 per annum. 32.5 Hours per week, 39 Weeks per annum. Commencing: 01 September 2026.

Pool Hayes Academy is looking to appoint a self‑motivated and committed Teaching Assistant.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with class teachers to support learning in line with the national curriculum, SEND Code of Practice and academy policies and procedures.

The department is part of a well‑led, dynamic team that enjoys supporting the Academy and its culture of outstanding success amongst our students.

The appointed candidate will establish positive relationships with all students and implement planned learning activities and teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, SENCO or Assistant SENCO, adjusting activities according to students’ responses as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom learning and implementation of the national curriculum.
  • Assist with the delivery of tailored support for students with SEND.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialist staff to plan and monitor learning activities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students and foster a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications and experience

  • Good basic education to GCSE level 4/C+ (including English and Maths).
  • Knowledge and understanding of strategies to help and support students with learning.
  • Previous experience working with secondary-aged students is desirable.
