When you train with us, you’re not just a trainee — you’re a valued member of the ATT community, supported by a dedicated, expert Institute team who will guide you throughout your journey.
Where You’ll Train
We’ll place you in a local ATT academy, where you will be based Monday to Friday throughout your programme. At your interview, we’ll explore placement options with you — always taking your travel and circumstances into account. We have academies located across the Midlands and the East of England.
You Will Complete
- One main school placement for the year, allowing you to build meaningful relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- A contrasting placement for 2–3 weeks, giving you wider experience and confidence in different environments.
What You’ll Learn
Your Training Programme Combines Hands‑on Classroom Experience With High‑quality, Research‑informed Study. Each Week, You’ll Explore a Key Area Of Teaching Through:
- Independent study
- Online weekly clinics
- Group sessions with fellow trainees
- Mentor meetings and deliberate practice
- Real classroom application
Your training will cover five essential areas:
- Behaviour – Create calm, purposeful classrooms where every child can thrive.
- Instruction – Learn how to teach clearly, effectively, and in ways that help all learners succeed.
- Curriculum – Discover how to design lessons that build knowledge over time.
- Assessment – Understand how to check learning and support pupils who need more help.
- Professionalism – Develop the habits and knowledge you need for a successful long‑term career.
Alongside this, you’ll study two PGCE modules and complete written assignments as part of your qualification.

By the end of your training, you’ll be ready — and excited — to teach independently.
Funding, Bursaries & Scholarships
Our route is an unsalaried, tuition‑fee route. To help support trainees during the 11‑month programme, tuition fee and maintenance loans may be available for trainees who meet the eligibility criteria.

- Chemistry – £29,000 (bursary) / £31,000 (scholarship)
- Computing – £29,000 (bursary) / £31,000 (scholarship)
- Design & Technology – £20,000
- Geography – £5,000
- Languages (French or Spanish) – £20,000 (bursary) / £22,000 (scholarship)
- Maths – £29,000
- Physics – £29,000 (bursary) / £31,000 (scholarship)
Some subject bursaries or scholarships are also available to non‑UK trainees.
