Overview Tradewind Recruitment is excited to collaborate with a successful and thriving Academy in Croydon, South London. This mixed Academy hosts 1,300 students aged 11‐18, including a large sixth form of over 300 students. The school supports every member of its community to achieve their absolute potential. As part of a larger Federation, the Academy offers a comprehensive induction programme and training and development opportunities, including Masters and other qualifications. Responsibilities * Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated English teaching curriculum, supporting designated curriculum areas as appropriate. * Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as an English teacher and form tutor. * Facilitate and encourage a learning experience that gives students the opportunity to achieve their individual potential through the subject of English. * Contribute to raising standards of student attainment within the English curriculum. * Share and support the Academy's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth. Qualifications * Hold QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degree in English. * Have successful teaching experience at the secondary level (including teaching practice), ideally in multi‐ethnic urban schools and 11‐18 settings. * Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning. * Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students, and of being a tutor. * Have knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at English KS3 and KS4, and know how to write lesson plans, develop resources and assess students' work. * Be able to work as part of a team and develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff. * Have a good level of ICT skills, ideally including innovative use of interactive white boards. * Create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students. * Communicate positively with parents, carers and other external agencies where necessary. * Have strong written and spoken communication skills. * Lead and manage your own work effectively. * Excellent time‐management skills. * Motivate students and raise their aspirations through a range of strategies.
