The Academy of Medical Sciences is establishing a new central events function to provide strategic oversight and practical support across our extensive, high-profile events programme. We are looking for an experienced Events Manager to lead this work.
Managing an Events Officer, you will provide organisation wide leadership for in person, hybrid and digital events – setting standards, strengthening planning and governance, and supporting colleagues from concept through to delivery. You will combine strategic judgement with hands on expertise, ensuring events are well designed, inclusive, professionally delivered and clearly aligned to the Academy's mission and priorities.
This is a highly visible role for someone who enjoys shaping an events portfolio, advising senior stakeholders and delivering outstanding experiences that enhance influence and impact.
Significant experience delivering complex, high profile, events across in person, hybrid and digital formats.
- Strong planning and operational management, including supplier management and end to end delivery governance.
- Budget management and financial stewardship (forecasting, cost control and reporting).
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to advise and influence senior colleagues.
- Commitment to inclusive and accessible event design.
- Confident using digital tools (including AI enabled tools) and data to improve planning and delivery.
- Experience shaping an organisation-wide events portfolio and advising on prioritisation and impact.
- Experience building or growing an income generating events offer (for example sponsorship, commissioned events, venue hire or partnerships) desirable.
- Line management experience and/or coaching colleagues to improve event practice.
This role will occasionally require evening and weekend working to support event delivery (time off in lieu will apply where appropriate).
