About the Role
Quantum Scholars is recruiting compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Specialist SEN Tutors to provide high-quality 1:1 tuition for pupils requiring Alternative Provision or Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS). We work closely with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wokingham and are currently experiencing a high demand for tuition referrals. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who are unable to access mainstream education. Tuition sessions take place on a one-to-one basis, either in the pupil's home or at a local library, helping pupils to engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to each pupil's individual needs.
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, anxiety, and other additional needs.
- Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet varying learning styles and abilities.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback where required.
- Maintain professional communication with parents, carers, schools, and referral partners.
- Ensure all safeguarding and health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
- Experience delivering tuition, teaching, mentoring, coaching, or educational support.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging sessions tailored to individual needs.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience within Alternative Provision, PRUs, or specialist educational settings.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND strategies.
