Quantum Scholars is seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate SEND Primary Tutor to provide tailored 1:1 tuition and educational support to primary-aged pupils in Wokingham. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with children who require alternative provision or additional support outside of a mainstream classroom setting. Through engaging and individualised learning sessions, you will help pupils overcome barriers to education, re-engage with learning, and make meaningful progress both academically and personally.
We welcome applications from tutors, teachers, teaching assistants, learning support assistants, SEND practitioners, youth workers, mentors, and other professionals with experience supporting children with additional needs.
The Role
As a SEND Primary Tutor, you will deliver one-to-one educational support to primary-aged pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education or who require additional intervention to support their learning and development. You will plan and deliver engaging sessions tailored to each child's individual needs, abilities, interests, and learning style, while also promoting their confidence, wellbeing, and independence. Sessions are typically delivered during school hours and may take place in the pupil's home or another suitable community setting.

- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Speech, language and communication difficulties
- School anxiety, avoidance, or refusal
- Behavioural and emotional challenges
- Medical needs affecting school attendance
- Gaps in education due to exclusion or alternative provision placements
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, personalised 1:1 tutoring sessions
- Plan and adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and abilities
- Support pupils with core subjects, particularly English and Maths
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and their families
- Encourage confidence, resilience, independence, and engagement with learning
- Support emotional regulation and positive learning behaviours
- Monitor progress and provide feedback where required
- Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
- Promote positive routines and educational participation
- Liaise with parents, schools, and professionals when appropriate

Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children with SEND or additional needs
- Experience in tutoring, teaching, learning support, mentoring, youth work, pastoral care, or a similar role
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Full Right to Work in the UK
- Ability to travel to in-person sessions within Wokingham and surrounding areas
