Quantum Scholars is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide personalised 1:1 support for a young learner in a home‑based setting. The pupil has Autism, a Visual Impairment, and English as an additional language. Having been out of formal education for a period of time, they require a patient and supportive individual who can help them re‑engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the skills needed for a future transition into a specialist SEND school environment. This role focuses on creating a positive and trusting relationship, encouraging communication, independence, and engagement through carefully adapted learning and life‑skills activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering 1:1 support within the pupil's home during morning sessions
- Supporting early English language acquisition, including speaking, listening, vocabulary development and simple literacy activities
- Promoting life skills, independence and everyday communication
- Helping establish positive routines and increasing readiness for future school placement
- Tailoring activities to meet the needs of a learner with Autism and Visual Impairment
- Providing consistent encouragement in a calm, nurturing and structured manner
- Maintaining communication with Quantum Scholars and other professionals involved in the pupil's support
About You
We would like to hear from candidates who have:
- Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- A good understanding of Autism and strategies that support communication, engagement and emotional wellbeing
- Knowledge or experience of supporting learners with Visual Impairment (desirable but not essential)
- Confidence supporting learners with English as an Additional Language (EAL) or basic ESOL development
- A patient, adaptable and empathetic approach
- The ability to work independently within a home‑based learning environment
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people
