We are working with a well-regarded Secondary School in Witham that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Leader to join their pastoral team. The school is committed to creating a disciplined yet caring environment where every student feels safe, supported, and able to succeed both academically and personally.
Job Overview:
- This school caters for students aged 11-16.
- Full-time, term-time only Pastoral Leader role.
- Support the welfare, wellbeing, and personal development of students within an assigned year group.
- Promote positive behaviour, strong attendance, and high expectations across the school.
- Work closely with the Head of Year, safeguarding team, and Senior Leadership Team to provide consistent pastoral support.
- Support students with SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs, or safeguarding concerns through targeted interventions.
- Monitor behaviour, attendance, and pastoral trends using the school's MIS system.
- Build strong relationships with parents/carers and external agencies to secure positive outcomes for students.
- Support behaviour management strategies, suspension processes, and reintegration plans.
- Act as a key point of contact for students requiring additional pastoral support.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture.
What we're looking for:
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
- Previous experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
- Experience using data to monitor student progress, attendance, or behaviour.
- A proactive, resilient, and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and supporting young people to succeed.
