About the Role in Aylesbury

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom, 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who require additional structure, encouragement and tailored assistance. You will help students access learning, develop independence and manage their emotional and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant in Aylesbury

  • Provide consistent 1:1 and classroom support for pupils with ASD and additional needs
  • Work confidently with non-verbal pupils and children with complex needs
  • Support learning, communication, behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Assist teachers with delivering accessible and engaging activities
  • Follow individual support plans and tailored interventions
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor pupils' progress and contribute to their wider development
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is essential
  • Proven experience providing 1:1 support
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, complex needs and/or communication xgikmsk difficulties
  • A calm, nurturing and patient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain consistent when supporting challenging behaviour
  • Reliable, proactive and committed
