Quantum Scholars is working in partnership with Hillingdon Council to recruit experienced and compassionate Specialist SEND Tutors to provide one-to-one support for children and young people across Uxbridge and the surrounding areas.

As an approved Alternative Provision provider, we support learners who are currently unable to access mainstream education due to a range of additional needs. This rewarding role involves delivering personalised, face-to-face tuition that helps young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive educational outcomes.

Sessions are typically delivered in learners' homes or appropriate community settings during school hours.

About the Learners

You will support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety and other mental health needs
  • Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
  • Medical needs
  • Social, emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Other additional learning needs

We are looking for tutors who can build strong, trusting relationships, adapt their teaching to meet individual needs, and create a calm, supportive learning environment where every learner can thrive.

The Role

As a Specialist SEND Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, personalised 1:1 tuition sessions in learners' homes or community settings
  • Support learning across subjects such as English, Maths and Science
  • Plan and adapt lessons to suit each learner's individual ability, interests and educational goals
  • Encourage confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning
  • Provide academic, emotional and pastoral support where appropriate
  • Work flexibly during school hours, Monday to Friday

We are particularly keen to hear from tutors based in Uxbridge, Hayes, West Drayton, Ickenham, Ruislip, Northwood, Hillingdon, Yiewsley, Cowley and the surrounding areas, where learner referrals are increasing.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Previous experience as a SEND Tutor, Teacher, Teaching Assistant (TA), Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Support Worker, Youth Worker, or in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learner needs
  • A patient, empathetic and flexible approach
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • The right to work in the UK

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable, as many learners are based across Uxbridge and the wider Hillingdon area.
