Make a Difference Through Personalised Education

Quantum Scholars is working in partnership with Hillingdon Council to recruit experienced and compassionate SEND/SEN Tutors to support children and young people accessing Alternative Provision across Uxbridge and the wider Hillingdon borough. This rewarding opportunity involves delivering personalised 1:1 tuition to pupils who are unable to attend mainstream education due to a range of additional needs. Sessions are typically delivered in the learner's home during school hours, helping pupils rebuild confidence, re‑engage with learning, and reach their full potential.

About the Role

As a SEND/SEN Tutor, you will provide tailored one‑to‑one tuition to primary and secondary‑aged pupils, adapting your teaching to suit each learner's individual needs, abilities, and educational goals. Tuition may involve:

  • Delivering engaging 1:1 lessons in pupils' homes
  • Supporting core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science
  • Planning and adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and their families
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers to education and successfully re‑engage with learning
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback where required

Who You Will Be Supporting

You will work with pupils presenting with a variety of additional needs, including:

  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
  • Anxiety and other mental health needs
  • Medical needs
  • Communication and interaction difficulties
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Other additional or complex learning needs

Many of the pupils have experienced challenges within mainstream education and benefit from a flexible, patient, and relationship‑based approach to learning.

About You

We are looking for tutors who have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
  • Previous experience as a Tutor, Teacher, Teaching Assistant (TA), Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or in a similar role
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • The ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learners
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to succeed
  • Full Right to Work in the UK
