Academics Portsmouth are looking to recruit passionate, reliable SEMH Teaching Assistant’s to join a ‘Good’ Primary School in Portsmouth. You\’d be working as a Teaching Assistant to provide support in their SEMH provision with children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.

This is a full-time, term-time role for a reliable Teaching Assistant starting asap on a contract basis so please only consider the role if you can commit to full-time work.

You will need to be available Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm for this role, as the school need consistency and reliability in the classroom.

As a school, they pride themselves on their caring environment and ethos, encouraging and supporting the children to achieve their full potential.

Building strong relationships with children and staff will be paramount for this role, you must be prepared to join the school community in caring unconditionally and valuing each child as a unique person.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support students on a 1:1 and small group basis. Experience of working in a school with pupils with SEN/SEMH would be an advantage. The suitable person will be passionate about education and supporting and developing children with additional needs, be calm, engaging, empathetic and have the ability to think on their feet.

This is a great role for anyone looking to work full-time in an alternative education provision.

You will need to have or be willing to pay and apply for an enhanced DBS and have the right to work in the UK (ideally you will be based in Portsmouth, or be willing to commute to the area).
