Academics are an education recruitment agency working with a primary school in Llantwit to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with high tariff additional learning needs (ALN) and will run on a temporary basis, with potential for long-term continuation depending on funding and pupil progress.

The Role

  • 1:1 support for a pupil with complex needs, which may include learning difficulties, communication challenges, and behaviour regulation.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, ALNCo, and external specialists to implement an individualised learning and behaviour support plan.
  • Supporting the child's academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social integration.
  • Assisting with transitions throughout the school day, including break and lunchtime if required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months' experience supporting children with ALN/complex needs, ideally in a 1:1 role.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willingness to apply through Academics).
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN, ALN, or behaviour support (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills, resilience, and a calm, empathetic approach.
