Overview
Academics are currently supporting a partnership school (located in Stoke-on-Trent) that are requiring an experienced Year 5 Teaching Assistant for the summer term (April 2026-July 2026).
Our partnership school is known for evolving independence for all of their learners and they have an encouraging attitude towards learning. Their curriculum is recognised as wide-ranging, allowing learners to absorb as much as they possibly can.
Responsibilities
- Working alongside the class teacher to provide general support for the class where needed.
- Assisting the class teacher in adapting classroom activities and resources to meet all of the learner\’s objectives.
- Working with learners either 1-2-1 or in small groups when required.
- Support learners to develop essential skills, build social connections, and engage actively in learning.
- Managing behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning.
- Small group interventions and supporting children with a range of needs (SEND).
- The ability to create an inclusive and safe learning environment for all of the learners within your class and the wider school community.
- Committed to support both the class teacher and the learners to succeed.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Have previous experience of working with children in a primary school or educational setting in the UK (which can be evidenced through referencing).
- Hold confident communication skills and will be an excellent motivator in the classroom (1-2-1 or small group support).
- Have strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners in Key Stage 2.
- Have a good level of literacy and numeracy skills
- Be familiar with the UK National Curriculum.
- Own a current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new Enhanced DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
